About the artist, Jaime Bliss

I love creating. I especially love creating with clay.

From a young age, I have always been drawn to the arts and creating. It started with mud and mud pies, progressed to drawing, painting and eventually ceramics. It wasn't until high school that I had the chance to try the wheel, I was hooked! I took a few more classes in college and was generously gifted my own wheel soon after graduating. But life got busy, and it wasn't until life slowed down due to COVID that I got "back on the wheel".

I'm grateful to my family for making all of this possible! It was family that gifted me the wheel; it was family that found me my first small kiln at a tag sale. It was my husband who spend time making me my own pottery studio in the basement. It was family again that found me another bigger kiln for free on Facebook marketplace. And it was my husband again that took time to fix and replace a few parts on the kiln to get it up and running. I'm so blessed to have such a loving family!

And I am also grateful that my kids are a little older now, and I can actually get downstairs to my studio often. Because this is truly my happy place! Being here in my studio and creating on the wheel, forces me to slow down. It forces me to put all my focus on carefully centering the clay, pulling up the clay and shaping it. If I don't, the object will become uncentered, wobble and fall apart. When I am here, I am fully present.

I will continue to create, try new styles and designs. And I hope that you will continue to follow me and my adventures and that it will also bring you some joy!
